What I love about UC Law SF: I love the busy-ness of it all. At UC Law SF I just have to walk across the street to head to my externship at the Northern District courthouse, to the Tower where I work in my office on the 23rd floor with incredible San Francisco views, to weekly farmers markets, museums, good coffee, City Hall, or to the beautiful library for quiet study. The Student Services team goes the extra mile to make us feel supported and informed.

What I did before law school: I worked at the White House for over four years: first as President Obama’s Trip Manager and then as the Advisor to our Deputy Assistant to the President & Deputy Homeland Security Advisor under the National Security Council. During that time, I was surrounded by brilliant lawyers that were exceptional in writing, crafting arguments, and concisely communicating their point in the most professional manner. It was inspiring to say the least. Before the White House I was in college, graduating with a degree in Political Science from UC Berkeley (transferring from community college) and prior to that, I served proudly in the United States Air Force for six years: deploying to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Africa.

Christa’s experience: Transferring is an important decision only you can answer for yourself. Transferring to UC Law SF after my 1L year was the best decision for me because it opened up a lot of opportunities that aligned more with my interests after having a year under my belt. After a year of law school I had a better understanding of what I wanted to gain in the two years I had left and what I needed to do in order achieve them. UC Law SF was the best choice for me and my goals. As the Editor-in-Chief of the UC Law SF Journal, it further shows, as a transfer, you still have the opportunity to get involved in a meaningful way.
