CNDR at the 2024 ABA Dispute Resolution Spring Conference

UC Law Alum John Lande Award Ceremony

In April 2024, the American Bar Association hosted the annual Spring Conference for the Dispute Resolution Section in San Diego, California, bringing together practitioners, academics, and other leaders in the field. This y ear’s theme was Mastering the Future: Revolutionizing Dispute Resolution in a Dynamic World.

The Center for Negotiation and Dispute Resolution (CNDR) has historically had a strong presence at the conference. CNDR continued its tradition of sponsoring the Legal Educator’s Luncheon, during which we are proud to announce that a UC Law SF alum, Professor John Lande (University of Missouri-Columbia, emeritus), accepted the Section’s Award for Outstanding Scholarly Work in Dispute Resolution.

Three CNDR faculty also spoke at the conference: CNDR Faculty Director Hiro Aragaki moderated a panel on Mediating Across Cultures – How Legal Mediation Changes Outside the US; CNDR Deputy Director Mattie Robertson participated in a panel entitled, Exploring the Future: The Power of Self-Awareness and Disrupting Bias in Dispute Resolution, and Professor Clark Freshman led a session on Overcoming Bias In Detecting Lies in Negotiation: Tech and Mindfulness.
