Bio

Adjunct Professor Lauren Curry is a Deputy City Attorney with the City and County of San Francisco where she serves as general counsel to the City’s Arts and Culture Departments, including the DeYoung Museum, Legion of Honor, Asian Art Museum, War Memorial and Performing Arts Center, and Arts Commission.

In this role, she advises the City’s Arts and Culture Departments on a wide range of matters, including copyright and trademark, exhibition contracts and loans, gifts and bequests, public meetings and public records laws, collection management, provenance issues, First Amendment issues, and Visual Artists Rights Act and California Art Preservation Act issues.

Professor Curry is currently the chair of the Art Law Section of the Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF), as well as a member of the Steering Committee for the Legal Issues in Museum Administration Conference (LIMA) to be held in Washington, D.C. in 2025.

She joined the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office in 2016. She earned her J.D. from U.C. Law San Francisco and has a B.A. in English literature from the University of California, Los Angeles.
