Bio
Amy Spivey is an Associate Clinical Professor and Clinic Director for the new UC Law SF Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic. She moved to San Francisco to attend UC Law SF (class of 2013), after receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Studies from the University of Florida.
Amy worked for four years in private practice at a small firm and as a solo-practitioner, representing individuals and small businesses in civil and criminal tax controversies and with tax compliance and planning advice. She specialized in matters related to foreign income and asset reporting. She returned to the public sector as the Supervising Attorney for the Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic at the Justice & Diversity Center (JDC) of the Bar Association of San Francisco. At JDC, she provided representation and pro bono legal services to low-income taxpayers in controversy with the IRS, including federal tax litigation in the U.S. Tax Court and U.S. District Court. She continues to advocate for low-income taxpayers as the Clinic Director for the UC Law SF Low-Income Tax Clinic, working to ensure fairness and integrity of the tax system.
