Robert P. Varian, who was for many years a partner in Orrick’s San Francisco office, was previously a partner in the Securities Litigation Groups of Clifford Chance US LLP and Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison LLP.
Mr. Varian was named to LawDragon’s Top 500 Leading Lawyers in America list, one of the most elite accolades in the legal profession. He is one of the few attorneys in the United States who has successfully tried securities class actions to verdict, and won one of the National Law Journal’s top ten defense verdicts in the United States in a major securities class action.
He represents issuers, officers, directors, underwriters, accountants, audit committees and special committees in securities class actions, merger litigation, derivative cases and accounting malpractice actions throughout the United States. He also represents companies, individuals and audit committees in connection with internal investigations, and SEC and regulatory proceedings.
