Research Professor Dwight Golann’s Recent Accomplishments in the Dispute Resolution Field 

The Center for Negotiation and Dispute Resolution (CNDR) is pleased to share some notable accomplishments of newly appointed Research Professor Dwight Golann. An academic leader with over 30 years of experience in dispute resolution, Professor Golann continues to contribute to and engage actively with the international ADR community.  

In October, Professor Golann received the 2023 Professor Frank E.A. Sander Award in Dispute Resolution, presented by the Massachusetts Bar Association. The Sander Award was established in honor of Harvard Law School Professor Frank Sander, a true pioneer in the field of ADR, whose seminal contribution to the 1976 Pound Conference laid the groundwork for modern ADR institutions and practices such as court-connected mediation. In receiving this award, Professor Golann has been acknowledged and honored for making prodigious contributions to the field of ADR. 

 In 2023 alone, Professor Golann participated in numerous seminars and panel discussions on dispute resolution. In April, he co-presented a program for the Annual Spring Conference of the ABA’s ADR Section: “Dealing with Stonewalling, Reneging and Other Tough Tactics.” In August, he presented the keynote program at the Annual Meeting of Federal Court Mediators in Boston, “Grieving over Settlement: The Role of Loss in Mediation.” In October, he was the keynote speaker for the International ADR Week Congress of the Chamber of Commerce in Barcelona, presenting on “Why Negotiations Fail” and “Comparing Different Models of Mediation.” Also in October, he was the keynote presenter for the Annual ADR Week Conference of the North Carolina Commission on Dispute Resolution in Raleigh. 

CNDR is excited to share these accomplishments and looks forward to Professor Golann’s future contributions at UC Law SF, including helping CNDR develop an online mediation course for foreign professionals.
