Yi-Chin Ho '99
As a litigation partner at Latham & Watkins in Los Angeles, Ho advises Taiwanese and Chinese companies, from multinational public businesses to small, privately held enterprises, in complex, cross-border business litigation matters, including antitrust and trade regulation, white collar and government investigations, securities fraud and investigations, class action, and intellectual property.
Ho brings distinctive assets to this playing field: She’s a native speaker of both Taiwanese and Mandarin. And she has a law degree from UC Law SF—auspiciously positioned to prepare students for the Pacific Rim. “My degree enables me to bridge the gap between Asia and the U.S.,” she says. That ability, Ho believes, will be essential to the next generation of lawyers.
Alongside a passion for law, Ho carries the ambition to help fellow immigrants understand the cultural and legal barriers as well as the opportunities of their new home. “We never want to lose sight of why we became lawyers,” she says. “I enjoy the high-stakes challenges—and making a difference in people’s lives.”
