Bio
Nanci Clarence is a nationally renowned trial lawyer with over three decades of experience in defending clients in and out of the courtroom. Known for her expertise in handling high-profile, high-stakes cases, Nanci represents both companies and individuals in criminal prosecutions, investigations, and civil proceedings, particularly when reputations, careers, and personal freedoms are at risk.
Drawing on her extensive courtroom experience as a former public defender and a litigator at a multinational firm, Nanci has successfully tried dozens of cases and argued appeals in federal and state courts across the country. She is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and has shared her expertise by teaching trial advocacy at some of the nation’s leading law schools. Nanci has also held a leadership role advising the United States Sentencing Commission and has been recognized by the Northern District of California for her many years of service to the Court, providing her with a unique insider’s perspective on litigation.
Nanci’s distinguished career includes her service as President of the Bar Association of San Francisco, and she currently serves on Senator Dianne Feinstein’s Judicial Advisory Committee for the Northern District of California.
This fall, Professor Clarence will co-teach Trial Advocacy with Professor Hansen, bringing her unparalleled experience to the classroom.
