HPL Application Next Steps
Thank you for submitting your initial application for the UCSF – UC Law SF HPL program. On this page, you will be able to complete the remaining steps of the HPL application process.
The PRIORITY deadline to submit all application materials is JANUARY 31ST; Final Deadline is June 3oth
Application Fee

Statement of Purpose and Resume Upload
- Statement of Purpose – Your statement of purpose should describe your academic and professional background and how the HPL program would complement or contribute to your career goals. Statements should not exceed 2 pages single-spaced and must be typed.
- Resume/Curriculum Vitae – A one to two page resume or curriculum vitae reflecting education, academic achievements, employment, and professional activities

Two Letters of Recommendation
- The HPL program requires that you submit two letters of recommendation. At least one letter should be from a former professor or someone who knows your academic potential. A letter from someone who can speak to your professional potential in health policy or health law is preferred but not required.
- Applicants should use the link below to have the required letter of recommendation form sent electronically to each of their recommenders. Recommenders can upload their letters of recommendation electronically.

Official Academic Transcripts
- The HPL program requires an official academic transcript from each community college, university, or professional school previously attended, whether or not you graduated from the institution.
- Digital transcripts must be sent directly from the institution to UC Law SF via electronic transcript transmission method or to HPLAdmissions@uclawsf.edu.
- Note that transcripts sent electronically by an applicant or an entity other than the institution cannot be accepted. Transcripts sent from or opened by the applicant will not be considered official.
For International Applicants
- Students applying for the HPL program who did not earn their Bachelors’ degrees (or equivalent) in an English-medium undergraduate program should submit an official TOEFL score report or an official IELTS score report. The UC Law SF code for TOEFL score reports is 4342. Scores should be less than two years old.
