Through the Master of Studies in Law (MSL) program, we partner with government agencies, legal organizations, and educational institutions to provide working professionals with access to hands-on learning, career development, and impactful community engagement. Government & Public Sector Partnerships
We proudly collaborate with San Francisco Gov and San Mateo County to support legal education. The MSL Program is designed to provide government employees with the legal expertise needed to navigate complex regulatory environments, draft and interpret policies, and enhance their professional impact within government agencies. As part of this partnership, eligible employees from San Francisco Government and San Mateo County receive a scholarship toward the MSL program.
UC Affiliate Partnership
UC Law SF collaborates with the University of California to expand access to legal education for UC staff and faculty. Through this partnership, eligible affiliates receive an application fee waiver and exclusive scholarship opportunities for the MSL Program, empowering professionals across the UC system to deepen their legal knowledge and strengthen their impact in their roles.
Corporate Partnership
At UC Law SF, we collaborate with corporate partners across a wide range of industries in the San Francisco Bay Area to provide employees with the opportunity to expand their legal expertise through the MSL Program . Unlike degree programs like the MBA, there is no universally standardized name for master’s degree programs in law. However, programs with titles such as Master of Studies in Law (MSL), Master of Legal Studies (MLS), Master of Jurisprudence (M.Jur.), and Juris Master (JM) generally offer similar opportunities. They are designed for professionals working in fields related to law who wish to gain a deeper understanding of legal concepts and principles at a master’s level without earning a full law degree (J.D.).

MSL Program Specializations
MSL students who opt to take classes in the hybrid-flexible mode can choose to pursue one of 15 specializations, providing a focused and enriching educational experience for those seeking a more specialized skill set. If your particular area of focus is not listed, you can design your own specialization in close coordination with your faculty advisor.
