Students for a short time.
Alumni for a lifetime.
Dear Fellow UC Law SF Alumni,
It is with deep humility and great excitement that I begin my service as the President of the UC Law SF Alumni Association Board of Governors. I want to extend a very special thank you to Barbi Applequist ’04 for her tireless efforts and service as President this last year, and for navigating the Board through an organizational restructuring that will make our Alumni Association stronger than ever.
UC Law San Francisco has so much to be proud of. We build community leaders, such as the Democratic nominee for President of the United States, Kamala Harris ’89. We create more judicial officers in California than any other law school, including a number of very recently-appointed alumni. We produce business leaders, social justice organizers, and legal advocates. This May, the college graduated 420 new lawyers, one-fifth of whom were first generation college and law school students.
Not only do our alumni reach the highest professional apexes, but also, they naturally reach back and bring others along. My goal for the upcoming year is to help more of you expand and strengthen your relationships with each other, with the college, with current students, and with the community. As alumni we have varied interests, time, and capacities for engagement, and the Alumni Association is overflowing with opportunities to connect, including:
- Spring Week: April 1-7, 2025 will be the fourth iteration of a new award-winning UC Law SF Alumni Association tradition, Spring Week. Join your fellow alumni in a week of reunion activities showcasing the college and the city of San Francisco.
- Alumni Chapters: We now have 24 alumni chapters and affinity groups across the country and abroad, which offers an opportunity to network and socialize with alumni near you. Find yours here!
- Online Alumni Network: Join the online alumni network to connect and engage with all things UC Law SF. The network hosts flash mentoring opportunities with current students, a directory of alumni, and an events board and social feed. Don’t miss out, join today.
- Academic Village: The college has completed the Cotchett Law Center, opened the innovative (and beautiful!) 14-story academic hub at 198 McAllister, and has started renovation of The Tower. Schedule a tour to see the transformation of the academic village that is our college.
- Mentorships: Become a student mentor, alumni mentor, or bar passage mentor; lead mock interviews; host a “6@6” dinner/coffee with students, or sign up to review and provide input on resumes.
- Supreme Cork Wine Club: Support some of our amazing fellow alums who work in the wine industry by joining the new Supreme Cork Wine Club.
I encourage you to make an effort this upcoming year to connect with the Alumni Association in new ways. I promise it will be worth it. UC Law SF is a special place – one that provided me with a great education, invaluable mentors and connections, and lifelong friends.
I am incredibly honored and excited to support our UC Law SF Alumni and am looking forward to working with all of you.
Thank you,
Kelly Woodruff ’92
