Oral Arguments before U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit

On Tuesday, October 8, UC Law will be hosting oral arguments before U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Argument will be held in the Baxter courtroom from 10:00 – 12:00, followed by a Q&A session and lunch with the judges and their clerks.
The Federal Circuit is best known as the court that appeals in all patent infringement cases as well as appeals from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, but its docket includes a wide range of appeals from administrative boards as well as the Court of International Trade, the Court of Federal Claims, and the Court of Appeals for Veterans’ Claims. Students and faculty with an interest in intellectual property or administrative law should be especially interested in attending arguments. The cases that will be argued Tuesday include an important patent case testing whether the “Reverse Doctrine of Equivalents” is a defense to patent infringement, as well as appeals in an antidumping case from the CIT, a federal employee case from the Merit Systems Protection Board, and invalidation of a patent by the Patent Office.
