Bio
Dwight Golann is Research Professor at Suffolk University and UC-Law. He is the author of the American Bar Association’s leading books on legal mediation, Mediating Legal Disputes, and mediation advocacy, Sharing a Mediator’s Powers, as well as law school textbooks and numerous articles.
He has led trainings in ADR skills for federal and state courts, state bar associations, the Federal Judicial Center, the European Union, and ADR organizations on five continents. Professor Golann is also an active mediator who has helped parties resolve hundreds of legal disputes. He was formerly a litigator in private practice and served as Chief of the Trial Division of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office.
Professor Golann is the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award of the American College of Civil Mediators, is an Honorary Member of the International Academy of Mediators and received the American Bar Association’s 2021 Award for Outstanding Scholarship in Dispute Resolution. He is a graduate of Amherst College and Harvard Law School.
At UC Law, he is involved in developing an online mediation course for professionals in developing countries and teaches in the law school’s program in India.
