Professor Ernest Hammond joins UC Law in the Fall 2024 semester co-teaching AI Law with Professor Tal Niv.
Professor Hammond serves as the Associate General Counsel of AI product at Meta where he supports the launch of AI products, features, and tools to Meta’s AI research team and others.
He brings experience in product, privacy (CIPP/US and CIPM), and commercial counsel with a demonstrated history of working across sectors and industries including tech, biotech, pharma, medical devices, clinical research, and financial services.
Professor Hammond was named by Modern Counsel’s 35 under 35 in 2024 as a distinguishing acknowledgment of young and exceptional legal professionals who represent the next generation of lawyers.
Professor Hammond was also recognized by the MCCA (Minority Corporate Counsel Association) as a 2023 Rising Star.
He has been praised for spearheading diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives within the legal community and as a board member of BALIF, the nation’s oldest and largest association of LGBTQI attorneys.
