Bio
John Echeverria is a Deputy Attorney General in the Government Law Section of the California Attorney General’s Office. In his practice, John litigates constitutional challenges to California laws in both federal and state courts and advises California’s constitutional officers and state agencies, including the Attorney General.
Prior to joining the Attorney General’s Office in 2016, John was an associate at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in Washington, D.C. and later in Los Angeles. Before joining Sullivan & Cromwell, John served as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Philip S. Gutierrez in the Central District of California (Los Angeles). John received his J.D. from the UCLA School of Law in 2009, an M.Sc. in Criminal Justice from the University of Glasgow in 2006, and a B.A. from Boston College in 2003, majoring in political science and philosophy.
