John McGaraghan

Bio
Adjunct Professor John McGaraghan is a partner in the Technology Transactions practice group at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he has practiced since being a summer associate in the summer of 2007. He focuses on counseling companies at all stages of growth in the development, distribution, licensing, disposition, and acquisition of technology and intellectual property rights. His practice spans a wide range of industries, including software/SaaS, hardware, semiconductor, “gig” economy, autonomous navigation, artificial intelligence and machine learning, entertainment/media industries, big data, telecom, and more.
In addition to drafting and negotiating commercial transaction agreements, John represents enterprises and investors on intellectual property matters in connection with corporate transactions including financings, asset purchases and sales, corporate restructuring (including spin-out transactions), joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions (including SPAC transactions).
Prior to joining Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, Professor McGaraghan was a working musician and recording artist, and a software developer.
Professor McGaraghan is a proud graduate of UC Law SF College of the Law, and received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, San Diego.
