Bio
Lance Cidre is a Staff Attorney at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Before joining the court, Lance spent a number of years as a civil defense litigator based here in San Francisco. His career began at Schiff Hardin, which he later left to participate in the founding of Riley Safer Holmes & Cancila. Lance’s litigation experience spans a broad range of practice areas—from employment and product liability to patent and regulatory work—and includes work on matters in state and federal courts around the country. Now at the Ninth Circuit, Lance routinely works on high-profile and emergency civil matters across numerous areas of law.
Originally from Las Vegas, Lance graduated from Hastings in 2012. During law school, he was an editor of the UC Law SF Journal, a member of the Moot Court Board, a teaching assistant for LRW and Appellate Advocacy, and a serial Moot Court competitor. Lance enjoys studying languages and history and has an abiding passion for research and writing. He also firmly believes that courtroom presentation skills are best honed through karaoke. These days, Lance can most often be found hanging out at home in Oakland with his wife, an immigration specialist and fellow Hastings alum.
