Bio
Liz Chien is an Adjunct Professor at the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly known as University of California, Hastings College of the Law), teaching international tax law.
She also serves as an advisor or board member to several companies in the digital asset industry. She is the former head of tax for Protocol Labs, Ripple Labs, GE Digital and Google Asia-Pacific, and was a Tax Director for Softbank International.
Liz also has deep policy experience as a former tax policy advisor to the OECD, where she worked on international tax reform relating to the digital economy in Action 1 of the BEPS Project, transfer pricing toolkits and the engagement with developing countries.
Liz served on the California Blockchain Working Group to evaluate the state’s use and regulation of blockchain technology.
Liz received her Bachelors and Masters degrees from Stanford University, and her Juris Doctor from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco.
