Bio
Adjunct Professor Shirish Gupta is an award-winning mediator and arbitrator with JAMS. He mediates a diverse array of cases, including employment, intellectual property, commercial, professional liability, health care, class actions and insurance disputes.
Professor Gupta is known for his legal acumen and economic prowess, which makes him particularly adept at diving into complex financial/technical disputes, including patents, securities and accounting, and class actions. He has successfully settled numerous cases and is sought out by Silicon Valley startups, as well as Fortune 500 companies. In 2014, The Recorder conducted an extensive survey of Bay Area Attorneys and named Professor Gupta the Best Independent Mediator.
In 2013, Professor Gupta’s mediation skills were recognized when he was recruited to mediate Superstorm Sandy insurance coverage claims in New York. At the peak, he was mediating and resolving four claims per day.
Professor Gupta is a past Co-Chair of the California State Bar Council of Sections and is a past chair of the State Bar Solo and Small Firm Section Executive Committee.

Professor Gupta received his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School and his Bachelors with Honors from UC Berkeley, where he majored in Economics and Legal Studies with a minor in South Asian Studies.
He is a past-President of the South Asian Bar Association of Northern California. Lastly, he volunteers as a youth soccer referee an AYSO coach, referee, division coordinator and board member. You’ll find him on a soccer pitch most Saturdays.
